Bare Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center

Bare Dermatology serves as “home base” for the dermatology residents, who will primarily live and train in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex area. As the primary clinical site and resident continuity clinic, Bare Dermatology is a core/foundational participating site for all of our dermatology residents with both medical and general surgical services provided in-house. Educational experiences based at Bare Dermatology are General Dermatology, Surgical Dermatology, and Continuity Clinic. The fifteen (15) months of General Dermatology rotations span all levels of training and consist of outpatient acute and chronic care and consultations. Learning opportunities include a wide variety of common acute and chronic conditions encountered in community dermatology for patients of all ages. Patient volume is approximately 40 patients per day. The longitudinal pediatric dermatology clinic experience occurs at this site as well and is supervised by the program director and core faculty, each of whom has extensive experience caring for pediatric patients.


Baylor University Medical Center

Baylor University Medical Center

All residents will rotate to Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) for one (1) month of adult inpatient consult service each training year. The BUMC dermatology consult service is an active, fully staffed year-round consult service in a well-established clinical learning and educational environment. BUMC is a large, urban tertiary care center with a diverse patient population with medical conditions ranging from common to the uncommon/rare, thus providing an excellent training experience for our residents participating on the consult service.

Cockerell Dermatology

Cockerell Dermatopathology will house residents for the six (6) month dermatopathology educational experience longitudinally planned as two (2) months per PGY-level. This location provides a significant foundational clinical experience for our dermatology residents and includes daily responsibilities related to slide/case review and discussion with faculty. Volumes range from 500 – 1,000 cases/specimens per day, encompassing a wide variety of pathology, varying from common to rare dermatopathology specimens; all specimens are available for resident education. It is important to note Bare Dermatology and Cockerell Dermatology is located in the same building on a separate floor. In total, approximately 66% of the residents’ training will be accomplished in this single geographic location.


Cook Children’s Medical Center – 7th Avenue

Cook Children's Medical Center - 7th Avenue

Cook Children’s Hospital is a large, 444-bed, urban pediatric tertiary care center with a diverse pediatric patient population. Our dermatology residents will participate in a pediatric inpatient consult service, which is operational year round. Medical conditions range from common to uncommon/rare, making this consult service an excellent training ground for our residents. Admissions exceed 10,000 per year, distributed across a variety of specialty care services and critical/intensive care units.


Hood County Office of Emergency Management & Public Health

The Hood County Office of Emergency Management ensures, through coordination with county, city, and local shareholders that the county is prepared to respond to, and recover from, all natural and man-made emergencies. This office provides leadership and support to reduce the loss of life and property through an all-hazards emergency management program of mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery throughout Hood County. Rotations to this location consist of outpatient/ambulatory acute and chronic care and consultations regarding public health initiatives and urgencies/emergencies. A wide variety of common and/or important acute and chronic conditions encountered in the rural public health setting provide learning experiences during this rotation. Patient volume varies based on public health events occurring at the time of rotation and may include individual patient encounters, group patient settings, and/or community-based large scale interventions.


Lake Granbury Medical Center

Lake Granbury Medical Center

Lake Granbury Medical Center is an 83-bed acute care community hospital. Specialty care is offered in over 25 medical specialties and there are 4 full-time hospitalists that provide the majority of the inpatient service. Lake Granbury Medical Center promotes various educational opportunities for the community and carries a rural hospital designation by CMS. The hospital admits approximately 5,500 patients annually, sees about 22,000 patients annually in the Emergency Department, and performs over 8,000 surgeries annually. Core/foundational clinical experiences for all ONMM residents occur at this site.


Natalie Wright, MD at Plano Dermatology

Plano Dermatology shall provide a one (1) month PGY2 (DY1) foundational experience in autoimmune conditions of the skin for our dermatology residents. A wide variety of common acute and chronic general and complex medical conditions provide learning experiences during this rotation, with a focus on autoimmune related disease. The Faculty has expertise in dermatologic manifestations of autoimmune, connective tissue, and rheumatologic diseases. Patient volume is approximately 35 to 40 patients per day.


Ruth’s Place Clinic

Ruth's Place Clinic

Ruth’s Place Clinic serves primarily the underinsured or non-insured patients of Hood County, Texas and surrounding communities. ONMM residents rotate to this location for clinical and educational experiences in family medicine within this busy outpatient/ambulatory care clinic. While assigned, residents will work alongside board-certified Family Medicine and ONMM faculty to diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions. Patient volume at this site is approximately 20-patients per day per faculty.


UNT Health Science Center Patient Care Center

UNT Health Science Center Patient Care Center

ONMM residents rotate to this location for clinical and educational experiences in outpatient/ambulatory acute and chronic ONMM care and consultations. Patient volume at this site is approximately 32-patients per day per faculty. Residents work one-on-one with their onsite board-certified ONMM faculty while assigned to this participating site.


Worldwide Laser Institute, Kassir Dermatology

Worldwide Laser Institute provides advanced level residents with core experiences in cosmetic dermatology, including experience with laser therapy, fillers, neurotoxins, micro-needling, etc. The site director is a highly experienced cosmetic dermatologist providing residents access to expertise in current and emerging cosmetic modalities. Patient volume is approximately 20 to 25 patients per day.
